I studied my Bible wrong for the first 10 years of my Christian life because the center of the studying process was Mark Virkler's brain, rather than revelation and insight from the Holy Spirit. I didn't do what King David did. He said his thoughts were troubling until he came into the sanctuary of the Lord, then he perceived (Ps. 73:17). Wow! He stepped beyond his own thinking, and came into God's presence, and then experienced perception, Holy Spirit revelation.

I didn't approach Scripture with a listening heart for the first 10 years of my Christian life because I didn't believe God was speaking anymore, so Bible study needed to be all about me and my efforts. Yuck!

Then I discovered that the verse in the King James Bible which says, "Study to show yourself approved..." (2 Tim 2. 15) was more correctly translated in the New King James Version as, "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God..." This was the only command in the Bible to study, and they dropped the word "study" and replaced it with diligence, which of course is an attitude of your heart, not a function of your brain!

Do you know how much I hate memorizing and living mistranslations of the Greek! A lot! So what is God's better idea? It is to let Him reveal truth to our hearts as He opens Scriptures to us. The disciples on the Emmaus road said, "were not our hearts burning within us as He opened Scriptures to to us (Lk. 24:32)." Got it! So this is my current approach to Scripture. Invite God, through His Holy Spirit, who is at my side to reveal insights from Scripture to my heart (Eph. 1:17,18), and for revelation to burn in my heart also, every time I open the Bible. And I do mean every time. Why not. He is always at my side (Acts 2:25). Why wouldn't I invite him to be part of the exploratory process?

If I invite the Holy Spirit into the process, it is called meditation, a word which shows up about 60 times in the Bible, and is translated in various ways. Meditation is a word which means I study the Bible in the presence of God, asking for revelation from the Holy Spirit, so that God gets to speak afresh to my heart every morning as I walk with Him in the cool of the day. Wow! Restoration to the Garden of Eden, to daily walks and talks with the God of the Universe, my Father, who loves to reveal Himself to me.

Tell me, isn't that much better than me studying the Bible on my own? I sure think so! So in this booklet we show you what the Bible says about meditation. What it is? How it is done? Only An Outline With Notes

I don't know if this is a problem with the Kindle edition but the book had nearly no narrative. It was mainly an outline - like notes a student would take while listening in class. I couldn't get anything helpful from this book because it was in outline form.

About the Author
Mark Michaelis is the founder of IntelliTect (IntelliTect.com) and serves as the Chief Technical Architect and Trainer. Since 1996, he has been a Microsoft MVP for C#, Visual Studio Team System, and the Windows SDK and in 2007, he was recognized as a Microsoft Regional Director. He also serves on several Microsoft software design review teams, including C#, the Connected Systems, Office/SharePoint, and Visual Studio. Mark speaks at developer conferences and has written numerous articles and other books. Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Illinois and a Masters in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology. When not bonding with his computer, Mark is busy with his family or training for another Ironman (having completed his first in 2008). Mark lives in Spokane, Washington, with his wife Elisabeth and three children, Benjamin, Hanna and Abigail.

Eric Lippert is a principal software design engineer at Microsoft. A Great Place to Start .NET Development

If you are looking to get into .NET development, this book is a great place to start. This book will teach you all you need to know about C# development. It will provide C# beginners with a complete foundation on which to build other .NET skills like WPF, Windows 8 App Store, XAML, ASP.NET, ASP.NET MVC, etc. The book does not cover the libraries to implement these technologies, but that is a good thing. You should have a solid understand of C# before moving on to them.

I have read a lot of C# books that include coverage of the base class libraries, WPF, Windows Forms, and ASP.NET as the second half of the book. I have never bothered with those parts of the book unless I was simply looking for an introduction to a new technology. They are never covered in-depth enough to do them justice. By leaving them out of this book, the authors were able to provide deeper coverage of the C# 5.0 language.

One of the coolest things about this book is the 4 indexes. Not only is there a really nice complete index, the authors have also provided an index for .NET 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0 topics to make it easier to find version specific topics.

Each chapter starts with a mind map that provides an at-a-glance view of the topics covered in the chapter. These give you a really nice view of what to expect from the chapter.

Each chapter is packed with sidebar coding guidelines containing dos, don'ts, considerations, and things to avoid for the topic at hand.

The authors also have included sections titled Beginner Topics and Advanced Topics. These are nice because it helps those just getting started to identify advanced topics that they can skip when just starting out, and it shows advanced readers what they can skip when delving into a topic.

They have also include something pretty cool they call Language Contrast sidebars. They identify key differences between C# and other languages. The languages include C++, Java, and Visual Basic .NET.

Although the things I mentioned above add tremendous value to the book, the best the about the book is the author's writing styles. Both of them write in a way that makes the book interesting and easy to read. The flow of topics are very logical making the book easy to read cover to cover, but it is also a great reference. The indexes I have mentioned above really help make this fast and easy to use reference.

The only ding I will give this book is the download for the sample code is not complete. Mark (one of the authors) says on his site you can email him to request individual samples. I had emailed him asking where the download was because I couldn't find it the second time I looked for it, and got back a response that he is travelling until February. I was looking for the download because I noticed samples missing and wanted to see if there was a more complete version available. There are projects for the samples that are missing, but they are just empty. The author's should take the time to fix this. Either delete the empty projects, or complete them. They should also include a read me file explaining the missing samples are intentionally missing.

The missing source code does not take any value away from the book. They are complete in the book and are small. It was just a bit confusing.

Over all I highly recommend this book to all levels of C# developers. I will definitely be keeping this book by my side.

I wish I read that book when I was learning programming as a kid

I got the hard copy of the book as soon as it was available. Pre-ordered it actually, here on Amazon. I must say, I'm not a beginner in C#, and out of the entire book I wasn't familiar with, perhaps, a sixth. However, I read all of it for the technical details in the advanced sections throughout the book, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I can also recommend it to beginners, because they will be put on the right track right away. The authors talk about C# language itself, but also on how to write and structure your code.
Every chapter has DOs and DON'Ts which make a lot of sense to me now, after years of professionally coding. I wish I read that book when I was learning programming as a kid.

One hell of a reference book YOU MUST HAVE!!

This book is absolutely amazing!! I would give it a five star if it only had review questions at the end of each chapter, especially about guidelines.

Most programming books are concerned with the language they are discussing, forgetting that knowing the language alone does not qualify you as a good Programmer. This book is written in a style I have never seen before and I have read a lot, I mean a lot of programming books (in fact, everything I know about programming is from reading books).

The book starts off discussing a topic, explains the topic in detail and then goes into specifics about best practices and how to avoid breaking guidelines that may negatively affect your code.

If you are a Programmer, beginner, intermediate or professional, you should own this book.

I just wish they added review questions.

About the Author
Nancy Tucker is a 21-year-old author and nanny. She suffered from both anorexia and bulimia nervosa throughout her teens, but is now on the road to recovery and began a degree at Oxford University to study Experimental Psychology in 2015. She lives in Oxford and London.

August has been an interesting month because I’ve started quite a few wonderful books, only to discontinue them halfway through. I can be a picky, fickle reader when I have an overabundance of reading material. That’s ironic, isn’t it?

I started Nancy’s memoir at work to get through a slow couple of hours, and was immediately entranced by the rawness of her literary voice. I still find it hard to believe that she was only twenty-one when she penned her memoir. In it she documents her life growing up in a lower middle class, blended family in London. Throughout her childhood, she’s plagued with the need to excel at all things and be perfect. Eventually this perfectionism ideation turns inward, when she realizes that all of her friends are smaller in size when compared to herself.

Nancy doesn’t glamorize her disorder or take the “woe is me” approach. Instead she offers a glimpse into her troubled mind, the voices that propel her to deny her body of nutrients, and the devastating effects this has on herself and those who love her. I especially understood her desire to come to terms with how something as harmless as “the diet” evolved into such a dangerous journey, and how recovery isn’t always linear.

"Recovery is recognising that some things have a place, but most do not; that, at any one time, some things will be in their place, but most will not – and that in these times there will still be a world which turns and a soul in your body and people who love you."

Euro Beer styles

This is an excellent book to familiarize yourself with the technical specs of european beer styles. Have you ever wondered what was the definition of a kolsch or a lambic, this book will tell you. sadly it was written in the nineties so the american beer information is woefully out of date having missed the second wave of american craft brewing. Though since the traditional european styles are just that traditional it will help you get a firm grasp on the various beer styles found throughout europe, which will definitely come in handy if you're studying for a cicerone certification. Lots of pictures and small type make it a bit of a slog to read but it makes up for it by being densely packed with technical information.

Good Coffee Table Material

This book is really in depth about beer of all types from all places. It is a great book to put on your coffee table and let your guests thumb through it. It would probably also be a good book to just read, although I haven't been through it cover to cover to verify that. The only drawback is that it is a little dated. The beer world has changed significantly since the craft beer revolution, which this predates. Still, there is a wealth of information that is and always will be relevant and interesting.

Mandy Concepcion has worked in the automotive field for over 21 years. He holds a Degree in Applied Electronics Engineering as well as an ASE Master & L1 certification. For the past 16 years he has been exclusively involved in the diagnosis of all the different electronic systems found in today's vehicles. It is here where he draws extensive practical knowledge from his experience and hopes to convey it in his books. Mandy also designs and builds his own diagnostic equipment, DVD-Videos and repair software.

Be aware that this book is only 65 pages. That's not much info for a relatively high cost.

The material as presented is useful and clear. This book covers only the actual sensors involved however. It seems to be part of a larger series. For the money, I would look for a more comprehensive book.

My 7 year old is a HUGE Angry Birds fan and he absolutely LOVES this book! We've already ordered volume 2 and pre-ordered volume 3. He's had us read it to him, he's been reading it to himself and he's even sat down and drawn some of the illustrations from the comics. I highly recommend this for any kids in your family that are Angry Birds fans.

So I got my copy of The Conglanger's Lexipedia in the mail today. My review? BUY THIS! Seriously! You WANT this! It's got everything you need. I've been looking for something like this for years, and there's nothing out there that comes remotely close.

You want lists? It's got gobs of word lists at every granularity, grouped by themes. But it's also chock full of ideas! It helps you brainstorm about how to create words for your language, how to derive words from roots in all sorts of ways and create etymologies. It shows you different strategies that natural languages use for word formation. And it approaches the subject from a lot of different directions. Whatever your style is, I think there's something in it for you.

Just flipping through a few pages, there's nifty info about proto-languages, word classes and categories, the top 1500 words used in Fantasy and Science Fiction literature, triliteral roots, metaphors, semantic fields, how different cultures divide up their concepts of the world differently, kinship relations, animal taxonomy, and it goes on and on... tons of cool stuff!

It even challenges your notions of what a word IS and makes you think about where we arbitrarily draw those fuzzy borders around the set of semantic tidbits we lump together to call a word, so that your language won't end up a relex of your native tongue.

I was over the moon thrilled with what I got in the mail. It was actually so much more than I expected it to be. It clocks in at over 400 pages, with multitudes of useful, interesting information on each page. It's a fine liqueur of highly distilled conlanging excellence. I'm not even doing it justice; really, you should buy it. You will not be disappointed. Get it for your conlanging loved ones, they will love you back.

The Lexipedia, while exceedingly helpful and worth recommendation, fell short in one fairly glaring area: it lacks an appreciable section on derivation and derivational morphology.

This seems incredible to me as it is typically the area of lexicon-building which intimidates and confounds conlangers the most, and I bought it largely with that in mind. While I would not say that the absence of such a section deprives the Lexipedia of much usefulness (far from it), it was an enormous disappointment and certainly an oversight on the part of the author.

The Lexipedia proves useful in some surprising arenas, however; indeed, the non-etymological sections possess a number of interesting and helpful observations of the lexicon-building process, and typological trends in vocabulary. The book additionally contains a fairly elaborate corpora of science fiction and fantasy literature, highlighting key sections of vocabulary for both genres that any author or conlanger would certainly need to pay particular attention to. The etymological section of the book (which comprises the bulk of it) is, in my opinion, its greatest strength. It tackles crucial clusters of vocabulary in all languages and provides, using an array of languages, excellent examples of various metaphorical approaches being used to capture the same semantic sense, and demonstrates examples of and differences between systems of derivation- which, in the absence of an explicit derivation section- is appreciated.

Over all, it is a book which fell short of my expectations and hopes as a conlanger, but one that remains useful nonetheless. Rosenfelder retains his seat as the Authorial Chief of How-to Conlanging as far as I'm concerned.

Great resource

I own all of Mr. Rosenfelder's books, and this, in my opinion, is the best. This is a must read as you start to develop your own conlanguage and conculture. I highly recommend becoming familiar with this book BEFORE you start developing words for your conlanguage if at all possible. The Conlanger's Lexipedia really gives you a broad, interesting view of how words form, why they form, and what they would/could come to mean inside a culture. I have a conlang of 7,000+ words currently and this book is causing me to go back and revisit literally everything about the words I have and why I have them. It really causes you to think about how your culture would view a variety of categories and how word stocks would develop around them. Can't recommend this book enough!

A Must Buy For Anyone Wishing To Become A Tattoo Artist !

Tattooing From A-Z is The Best Book Written So Far on the Art of Tattooing for Beginners. Additionally there is a DVD that you purchase the Art of Tattooing by Tom Spaulding, Huck's son. It is the companion video for this book. spauding rodgers tattoo supply's has it. Look them up.on googel etc.

The book contains tons of information that will put you on the right track & cut the learning curve down in half. As a shop owner we have our apprentices read it. As well as watch the video. In the video , you see several methods for making stencils, a cover tattoo, a black & grey wash tattoo & color tattoo. The video goes over tools of the trade. How to set up your station etc..Great addition to the book it enforces what was in the book visually.

The Book has information on your equipment, tattoo machines, set up's. needles etc. Plus how to diagnose problems with your work & correct them. Stencils, stencil Application, Legal Aspects, (ie) ways to protect your self.

I would recommend, practicing on practice skins first, About $1.00 each. To Clean off ink splatters which most can not figure how to get off. Simple trick Dollar Store : Awesome Cleaner. works great & Cheap. You can also use Craft Foam, In Wal-Mart, Kid's Craft Section Foam Sheets. They are about the size of note book paper & about 2 mm thick. Six Cents Each That is Dirt Cheap.Several Colors IMOP try & stay with Orange & Yellow. Additionally practice on FRUIT, Oranges, Grape Fruit, Tangerines, Bananas,Honey Dew Mellon's, & Pumpkins in season...Do not eat fruit after. Pig Ears, pigs Feet, Pigs Skin, The Butcher Shop Some Sell it Some Give it away.

The book covers every-thing a beginner needs to know. I have an older addition 1988. But it is the standard textbook for apprentices. I would how ever check with your local health dept as to new sterilization rules.. Additionally look up Hipiclense on you-tube watch that video as well as handling hazardous materials. You will need to get your Blood Borne Pathogens Certification. RED CROSS about $25.00 Also CPR, First Aid Certification & depending on the state AED Certification I would get this anyway. Typically Free at your local Fire Dept or $50.00 On You-Tube look up Blood Borne Pathogens, MERSA.

Machined, machines hyper accurate, high quality. constructed of Air craft Aluminum, Aluminum, Steel, Brass, Copper. High quality CNC machines. Cast Iron tends to run a little cooler. Stay a way from Stamped Metal Chines Frames.they are Fubarbed from the get-go. When ran for extended times. $5.00 to $20 each. Note However with Chinese Rotary Machines They are generally as good as the real ones. No what to look for we will get to that. Coil Machines Most Chinese Coil machines will need to be rebuilt. New Coils, $25.00 Capacitor, $1.00, 47 uf is a good rating for beginners. for all coil machines. New Armature Bar, $1.00 to $6.00, New Springs,$1.00 to $5.00 a set. So Say $7.00 machine + the parts = $30 to $35 a piece is about right total. investment. Worth about $300 to $350.00 each. Wow! You can also buy knock off's. So Quality & Looks. SUPPLIERS THAT HAVE GOOD PARTS FOR CHINESE MACHINES: Monster Steel,[...] & Infinite Irons, [...] , Both have quality parts, for Rebuilding Your Chinese Coil Tattoo Machines.

2.) Power Supplies: Knock offs. * Look at Hurricane, $35.00 about 80% less than the real one. * Eikon $100.00 about a third of the real one. * Led Read out Dual Machine $20 or less only voltage read out.. Basic, no read out & only one machine hook up. $7.00. * IMO buy the Hurricane or The Dual Machine Led read out. Both the Hurricane & Eikon's have not only volts, but amps, duty cycle, the ability to make the foot-switch a "Constant " on or off. That means one click & it's on & another one & it's off. Very useful. Once you have tattooed for awhile you will see what's meant here. Also a timer for time tattooing. If you charge by the hour. Then there you no arguing from client it is on the screen. These features are not necessary but are nice.

3.) Clip Cord: $1.00 to $20.00. The $1.00 is a good quality one stick with at least a 5' clip cord most 6' The Dollar ones will not have the positive Terminal Marked. Typically both leads are black. Buy a Voltage Meter & Learn how to use it. They Can be used for a multitude of things in tattooing. Mark the Positive Lead with Red Nail Polish. & Save about $18.00 which you use to purchase your voltmeter. 4.) Foot Switch: $3.00 to $50.00 " A good price is about $5.00. " * IMO Look for the Stainless Steel Round Foot Pedal with black rubber pad in the middle. Nice heavy construction. *

But Good Quality.[...]- They sell needles & supplies +supplies for making your own needle groupings, Box of 50 about $25.00 Mithra,[...], They sell needles Tattoo Supplies & Materials for making your own needle groupings. Box of 50 about $25.00 So IMO Stick with Monster Point. a Jewelers Eye Loop. Dh Gate, Alie Express, Amazon Most say. 5 X & 15 X & 22X, I Say Get 1 like Get a 10X & 30-60X or higher with built in Led Lights. about $3.00 to $15.00. This is a must for checking needle, groupings for damage. Also a painters razor blade or a barbers. One side Flat & smooth so you can hold it. The other a thin, blade. For Separating needle groupings. Additionally a watch makers set of glasses built in lights. good for seeing intricate details. Following the needle tips when tattooing. About $ 1.00 to $8.00. Same Amazon, Alie-Express, DH Gate. This is a Huge Tip! You Tube Channel undergrounddema graphix has a great video on needle types & there uses.

6.) Tubes & Tube Grips. Amazon. you can find tube grips for about $5 to about $50.00 I would look at buying a set. They Typically have a set of say 7 tubes Aluminum or Stainless Steel,for $7.00. That is Cheap. U.S. Made usually about that much for just 1 Tube Grip. * Tube Tips look for a set Typically like 22 in a set Stainless Steel about $20.00 to $200.00. Again Amazon or DhGate or alie Express about $20.00 for a set of 22, Stainless Steel ones That is Cheap. You can also buy disposables. But I would stick with the Stainless Steel Tips & Aluminum or stainless steel grips. They are able to be sterilized & re-used like a dental instrument.

7.) Spirt Master Paper:for Transferring stencils to skin. Stick With Spirt Master, it sticks better & last longer Than Plain Carbon Paper. 25 sheets about $8.00 on Amazon. You Can also buy hecto-graph pencils, quantity 12 in a box. about $8.00. This not Necessary. Just The Paper. you-tube channel sin city has a great video on making stencil stuff.

8.) Ink , Mom's, Eternal, Star-Brite, etc Quality, Also A& D Ointment Gloves etc.

A good reference guide for beginners, but do your self a favor and seek training from a professional:

This is going to be a short review of Huck Spaulding's book simply because there isn't much to say about it, except, before entering the world of tattooing you'd better purchase this book because it's required reading.
But on the downside, unfortunately, after reading this book you won't miraculously become an expert in the craft. {{{Sorry, but, practice makes perfect!}}}

So, let me state what's really cool about this book. "Tattooing A to Z" is intelligently didactic, and walks you through the many different techniques, do's and don'ts, and mechanics of the trade so you'll know what to expect when you successfully find a professional who'll happily train you in an apprenticeship position.

Anyway, the book is comprised of 5 parts, but I'll just summarize a few.
The first 8 chapters deal with equipment such as the tattoo gun, needles, the power pack, and a plethora of other tidbits needed for creating successful tattoos, plus a concise rundown of all the machine components.

The second part is comprised of chapters 9-11 dealing with sterilization of equipment, the costumers and keeping the shop immaculate, while part 3 is about artwork, design and lettering techniques, and there's plenty more in this book, but detailing every aspect of tattooing is a superfluous endeavor for a book review.

I must reiterate that this book is absolutely a must have, but what I didn't like about this guide to tattooing is that there weren't any photographs of professionals at work. If there were it would unquestionably help the reader envision and ascertain the process a little better.

I'll admit I tried to tattoo on my own, and I did poorly. Unfortunately it wasn't for me, but it may be for you... and all I can say is good luck because you're going to need it. {{{HAVE A GREAT CAREER!!!}}}

This book was the best investment I ever made, concerning my buisness as a tattooist. It held vital information about the tattooing process. How to build tattoo guns from the ground up, and how to protect yourself as a tattoo artist legally. And thats only a small part of what this book contains. This book will deffinately stay in my library. And if something shuld happen to it. I WILL BUY ANOTHER ONE.
