Poems That Tell Truth

If you like reading gritty poetry that most presses would be scared to death to publish then "Confessions of a Porn Addict" is right up your alley. Jay Sizemore takes that grit and works within it. Just like taking a grain of sand and magnifying it 250X you will find that it is much more than a grain of sand, it is a world unto itself. In this book you will find parts of this grit that at times are extremely deep, funny, and poignant. Sizemore is able to fit all these things into one book, sometimes even into a single poem. If you want to read a REAL book, one that truly speaks its mind in a gritty and truthful way then you've found it here.

Which I why I recommend reading it aloud to such people

The poems in this very slim volume are absolutely feral, ugly and powerful things. Jay Sizemore digs deep down into the places of the human heart that most of us would rather not think about and then eats what he finds. Sex and desperation abound. The take no prisoners approach of this book is not for the faint of heart. Which I why I recommend reading it aloud to such people.

Confessions of a satisfied reader

Seriously riveting read. Sizemore's sense of metaphor appeals to me a lot. It's like film noir monologue, gritty, visceral, hard-boiled. His content reminds me of Bukowski, and the way he dives into selfhood, and then dives deeper, and deeper still. This stuff's dark but there's redeeming truth in it.
